Cyfrowa Wyprawka - Another successful migration from Drupal 7
We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed another project in collaboration with the Panoptykon Foundation! This time, our task was to update and modernize the 'Cyfrowa Wyprawka' portal – an educational platform aimed at teachers and individuals who want to discuss topics related to the challenges of new technology and the digital world with children and young people.
Why Was the Update Necessary?
The cyfrowa-wyprawka.org portal has been providing valuable educational resources for years, but its technical infrastructure required an update. The site was running on Drupal 7, which lost support entirely in January 2025 and no longer offers modern technological solutions. The decision to migrate to the latest stable version of Drupal 10 was a natural step, enhancing the platform's stability and security while also facilitating future development.
How Did the Migration Process Go?
By utilizing the Drupal multisite mechanism, we were able to efficiently leverage components previously developed while working on the Panoptykon Foundation’s main website. This approach significantly reduced development time and simplified future updates.
What did the migration include?
Transferring content and adapting it to the new structure, Building a website based on the latest Drupal release and implementing a refreshed layout, Expanding functionalities – we added an Apache Solr-powered search engine and a quiz creator, enriching user interaction with the site. How Quickly Were the Changes Implemented? Although migrating from Drupal 7 to 10 may seem complex, this project was completed smoothly. Thanks to a relatively simple content structure, the ability to reuse previously developed components, and the absence of complicated custom modules, we successfully completed the entire process in about a month. This demonstrates that even major Drupal version upgrades don’t necessarily have to be lengthy and costly – the key is the right approach and an experienced team.
The Result? A Modern and Stable Platform!
